The Outdoor Fitness Collective (OFC) is a totally new fitness concept created by East Sheen resident Jonathan Bramley. The OFC incorporates a huge range of fitness activities that cater for the needs of a large cross-section of the local population – including children, mothers with babies in buggies, cyclists, swimmers, those keen to try something new and others, too. In fact, OFC caters for people of all ages and abilities who enjoy being active outdoors and enjoy training in groups.

The locations of all classes have been chosen to maximise convenience and take in the best of the lovely local open spaces we’re so lucky to have at our disposal.

Jonathan came up with the idea for a multi-sport business whilst training for swimming events and triathlons. “I became exposed to some amazing locations that I never knew existed and I also met people who enjoyed exercising in the outdoors as much as I did. I spoke to some friends about the ideas I had and things started to snowball really quickly with lots of suggestions coming in for different classes people would like to do. I started thinking about things during Christmas 2012 and we launched last April.”

Under the guidance of expert instructors members of the OFC can choose to take part in a huge range of classes each week. Classes include:

Last week OFC launched a totally new concept on Richmond Green – a wireless music bootcamp. Participants have high energy music pumped into their wireless headphones whilst pushing themselves during a full-body workout.

“My aim with the OFC is to make exercise enjoyable. Training in groups helps with motivation and introducing new classes and new technology attracts people that might otherwise not engage in traditional exercise. Our wireless music bootcamp is an example of this. We are also going to have a parent & child session Showing kids that exercise can be fun is important and parents should lead by example. Why not bring children along? Often the kids are fitter than the Mums and Dads!”

The OFC also caters for Mums with babies and toddlers with Sheen’s only Buggy Fitness class which allows Mums to get together and work-out with their children. There are also lots of things on the horizon with the imminent launch of a new Hula Hoop class given by World Champion “Marawa The Amazing” and the spring will also see the reintroduction of OFC’s watersport activities (Stand Up Paddle Boarding & Kayaking) held at Kew Bridge.

“One other thing I should add is that we are not exercise bores! We exercise so that we can enjoy a nice meal and a few drinks, which is evident when you attend one of our OFC social nights,” Jonathan adds.

What OFC members say:

“I started Bootcamp a few weeks ago with my neighbour. Yes it hurts, yes after the first week I could not stand the sight of staircases (or even stand for that matter!), yes it feels like you’ve been through ten rounds with Mike Tyson… But it feels amazing! I’ve come out of lessons feeling so proud of myself and the instructors know how to keep us motivated and coming back for more.” Lucie

“Since joining the Outdoor Fitness Collective, I have had the rare experience of standing in the middle of the Thames, been thoroughly drained after hill sprint sessions and have seen my cycling increase from struggling to do 20 miles to regularly being able to do 65 miles without breaking sweat. Along the way I’ve met some great friends and we’ve just returned from an OFC cycling holiday to Spain. My fitness has really increased and I have shed a few pounds of fat and replaced it with muscle!” Martin
